What I'll be doing from now on is posting pics I see of local mosaic art I find in the city or out in public view. I love snapping shots of these outdoor displays and I feel I need to share them with everyone.
Yesterday, we (my mom and the kids and me) were drinving through the Old Sixth Ward here in Houston and I spotted this mosaic. I can't believe I haven't seen this ever before, especially since I'm always in or around the area. This mosaic is on the property of MECA along with a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is made entirely out of cans~ Yes I said cans! (see ablove) When I drove by I thought the statue was a mosaic and then noticed the pretty blue horse to the right of me. Way cool! Anyway, we were driving through sixth ward looking at all of the old houses and remembering where my mom grew up so many years ago here in Houston. The house that my mom grew up in was turned into a bailbonds many years ago and I guess that's appropriate b/c it's 5 minutes away for the courthouse. LOL I'm glad the structure of the house hasn't changed and that it wasn't a vicitm of bulldozing to make way for the citys 15421546187 condo project. ugh how I'm tired of seeing houses being torn down instead of being renovated ~ but enough of that...
